Coronavirus Support

Following discussions, this week, between Misterton Parish Council and the Misterton Emergency and Resilience Team (MERT) the following is how we hope to support the village during the current Coronavirus pandemic. It is agreed that the lead will be taken by the MERT and our aim will be to coordinate support and communications.

We will use the Misterton Village Magazine for periodic updates and the facebook sites 'Misterton Parish Council' and 'Residents of Misterton (Somerset)' to share the latest information. In due course we may expand the social media we use. The Parish Council noticeboards will also be used and are located outside the WI Hall and on the corner of Turnpike Green with Silver Street.

From what we understand, from other community activities, local support is the most important way to help others i.e. looking out for immediate neighbours. We know this is already happening in the village. To assist with this we are going to use the contacts we have to check on vulnerable people and also compile a register of potential supporters and those who many need help. If you would like to be included in either of these groups please let me know via the contact information below and we will put people in touch with each other. Please note the team contact information is included in the magazine every month.

As often happens, in times of crisis, there will be some people who may want to take advantage for personal gain. To this end we recommend that if you are receiving help only accept it from people you know or via the MERT as we will check all the volunteers and advise if we are going to put them in touch with you. Similarly there is a lot of information being circulated and some of it may be unreliable. Our recommendation is that only follow advice from recognised authorities like the NHS, government or other official bodies. Any information we distribute will be checked for its authenticity.

Finally if you share your information with us we will keep it only for the duration of the pandemic and check we know each of the volunteers we receive.

Keep safe and please help support the village initiative.
